I started investigating digital TV reception at a rural area and documented it in a previous article. Yesterday I did some experimenting at various times with a Jensen TV931 amplified antenna connected to a Magnavox digital TV tuner to analog converter. The following table summarizes the results:
| Time | Antenna Location | Antenna Rotation1 | Channel Reception | Quality | Peak Signal Strength |
| 2:45 PM | On table by TV, ears fully extended | 0 | None | NA | NA |
| 2:45 PM | In south window with blinds open and ears fully retracted and window fully open | 180 | Ch 2 (RF 23) | Choppy | not measured |
| 2:45 PM | Outside on north roof and ears fully retracted | 180 | Ch 2 (RF 23) | Choppy | not measured |
| 3:00 PM | Outside on north roof and ears fully retracted | 0 | Ch 2 (RF 23) | Very Choppy | 17 |
| 8:30 PM | In south window with blinds open and ears fully retracted | 180 | Ch 55 (RF 50) | Perfect | 17 24 17 Not measured |
1 Rotation of 0 degrees corresponds with front of antenna (logo side) facing north
2 Channel 2 was coming in choppy before I rescanned for channels, but did not show up in the scanned channels
Interestingly, putting this antenna outside during the day did not help like last time, although the location of on the roof was different this time. Last time I had it mounted further away from the trailer near the ground. I'd like to do this experimentation again with some different outside locations.
