Fluorescent Light Bulb Experiment Part 16

posted Monday, 21 September 2009

Yesterday a 65W indoor flood light in our upstairs hallway burned out.  I decided to replace it with a compact fluorescent flood light.

Philips Energy Saver 65 Reflector Flood R30
16W
750 Lumen light output
8000 hour life

One unique thing about this bulb is that there is absolutely no delay when it turns on like I have noticed with other CFL bulbs.  It would be very obvious if there were a delay since it is connected in a hallway with 2 other flood lights that are on the same switch and those are still incandescent bulbs.  There is a somewhat noticable difference in light quality, but it isn't too bad (the incandescents are nicer light).

Total power savings since starting this experiment in 2005 is now approximately 1616 kWhr.
