PCI Express Analyzer

posted Sunday, 14 September 2008
I saw an add in Test & Measurement World a while ago for a PCI Express Analyzer from Vmetro.  The product is called Vanguard Express Analyzer.  It is available in x1, x4, and x8 lane versions.  According to the datasheet, the analyzer is a PCI-E form factor card that plugs into a PCI-E slot.  The card has a signal splitter on it that taps off the PCI-e signals and redrives them to another PCI-E slot on the top edge of the card to plug the system PCI-E card into.  The device will capture the PCI-E serial traffic and collect statistics on it for analysis on an external PC through USB or Ethernet.  The device also has a protocol checker mode to verify that the system is operating according to the PCI-E protocol.  I think pricing is in the $20k to $30k range for these PCI Express Analyzers.
