This is a continuation of the
article series on the construction of my shed.

Today I started working on the Door, Window, and trim. I got the door frame cut to length and hung. I noticed that I made my door opening a little too short for the 80 in. door that I bought. I had to trim off a little more than 1 in. Then when I went to hang the door, the out of plumb front wall reared its ugly head. I want the door to swing into the shed, but since the wall is leaning in, when the door swings in it catches on the level floor when it is just about fully open. So I trimmed another 1/4 in. off the door. That's when it started raining so I haven't hung the door yet. I then built the window frame and put the window in it. I made that out of left over 1x6 pieces, so the window will have a little sill on the inside. I measured for the trim pieces on the walls along the edges where the side walls meet the front and back. I won't even have to cut those because at the front wall the 8 ft. 1x4's will work fine and at the back wall the 6 ft. 1x4's will work fine.
So that's where I stopped.
Time spent today was 4 hours by me.

Today I finished installed the door and window, and then put up all the trim. The only complication came when trying to put trim along the bottom of the back wall. One of the siding pieces was too short and we knew that when we put it on because it was a mistake in cutting. We thought the bottom trim would cover up the obvious difference in length from this siding piece to the others, but it was just a little too short and there was a small gap when the base piece was put on, not to mention that there was nothing to nail the base trim to in that area. I used a left over piece of siding to make a small 2.5 in. long piece of siding to fill the gap. It worked fine, and the problem is hardly noticeable and won't be noticeable at all after it is painted.
Now all that's left is the painting. One other issue is whether to put a threshold in for the door and or install a sweep on the bottom of the door. Not sure what I'm doing there yet.
Time spent today was 7 hours by me (some of this time was also spent picking things up since the construction is done).
