Welcome to the Macroware Technology blog. My name is David Carney and I am a Senior Hardware Engineer in the electronics industry. There are four main purposes to this blog. The first is to create an exchange of knowledge and professional discussion relating to topics in science, technology, applications, and investment opportunities. Feedback and comments are welcome and receiving them is one of the primary goals of this web log. My intention is for this web log to be a source of learning for myself and the readers. The second purpose of this web log is to provide a source of information and references that are useful to an electronics design engineer. Much of the technical information will center around my primary interests of high speed digital design, signal integrity, and multi-gigabit chip to chip communication systems. The next purpose is to create a personal engineering log that I can refer back to that documents my experiences, knowledge growth and development, and perceptions of the electronics industry throughout my career. The goal is to document useful information for the short term, but also to capture the bigger picture that I can look back on at the end of my career to remember the steps along the way. The final purpose is to have fun. While most of the goals of this web log are serious and technical, there is a lighter side to engineering. I will on occasion discuss crazy, strange, or funny technology related stories.
Like most engineers, my interest in technology and its applications extends beyond my work. I enjoy what I do and strive to make useful contributions to my company, but I also use my engineering knowledge and skills in other areas of my life. These include hobbies, home improvement, teaching others, investing, fixing things, automating things, and helping others. It is likely that this web log will include entries describing some of these projects and experiences as well, but I will always try to keep the content relevant to the stated goals. This is not a diary, but an engineering log!
Now for the disclaimers. First, I will make every attempt to post accurate information, but I make no warranties either expressed or implied about the accuracy of anything posted on this web log. I welcome feedback, and when something I post is shown to be in error I will note the corrections. Second, the content on this web log in no way reflects the opinion or position of the company that I work for. Because of confidentiality concerns, some information will sometimes have to posted without some context. Nothing confidential will ever be written in this web log.
